Uncommon Ways to Reduce Wrinkles Now ...

Are you tired of trying the same old ways to reduce wrinkles? Fighting the signs of aging isn’t all about expensive creams. There are actually some pretty surprising yet effective ways to reduce wrinkles that you might not be doing, but should.

If you want to prevent the formation of new wrinkles or minimize existing fine lines, don’t rely solely on skin care products to change your skin. Discover some of the uncommon ways to reduce fine lines and wrinkles and fight wrinkles from all angles.

1. Stop Squinting

If you squint a lot, do your skin and eyes a favor and get some shades or eyeglasses. Constantly squinting leads to overworked facial muscles that form a groove underneath the skin’s surface which will eventually turn into a wrinkle.

This goes for any repetitive facial expression or movement, so if you frequently frown, you can bet those lines will start showing up more often. Who would’ve ever thought that rocking some glasses or shades would be one of the ways to reduce wrinkles?

2. Drink More Tea

I’m sure you’ve heard about the many benefits of drinking tea, but the teabags are also useful in reducing fine line and wrinkles.

Drinking green, chamomile, dandelion and rosehip tea has been known to help reduce inflammation, protect against free radicals and these teas have fabulous anti-aging qualities too.

Brew yourself a cup and drink it or allow the tea to cool and spray it as a mist on your face. You can also apply the cooled tea bags to eyes to minimize fine lines.

3. Sleep on Your Back

What’s your favorite sleeping position? If you sleep on your back, you’ll be glad to know that it’s the best position to prevent and reduce wrinkles.

Sleeping on your sides or stomach might feel good now, but they can lead to sleep lines and uneven wrinkles on your cheeks and chin. Sleeping on your belly can cause a furrowed brow since gravity pulls everything down.

4. Tint Your Car Windows

If you have a long commute or your job requires you to drive for long periods of time during the day, those damaging UVA rays that cause wrinkles are penetrating your car window, sunny out or not.

Dermatologist Ranella Hirsch of Boston recommends applying a broad spectrum sunscreen and tinting your windows to help keep those damaging rays away.

5. Wash Your Face, but Not Too Often

You know how it seems like we are forever being told not to overwash our hair? Turns out, the same goes for our face.

No matter what skin type you have, washing your face too often can strip your skin of its natural oils and leave it feeling dry. Dry skin can accentuate wrinkles and according to WebMD, tap water can strip your skin of natural oils that protect against wrinkles.

6. Eat More Fish

If fish, particularly salmon and sardines, isn’t a big part of your diet right now, it might be time to start eating more of it.

Fish that are high in omega-3 fatty acids and protein are renowned for their ability to help keep skin youthful, supple and nourished. They also help fight inflammation, are heart healthy and boost levels of serotonin.

There are lots of ways to enjoy fish whether you enjoy it baked, smoked, grilled or raw (sushi).

7. Eat Your Antioxidants

Applying skin care products with antioxidants is helpful, but why not take it a step further by eating them, too?

Foods like berries, chaga mushroom, raw garlic, pistachios, pecans and cocoa are all rich in antioxidants and can protect skin from sun damage as well as improve hydration, skin texture and increase blood flow to skin cells.

As you can see, reducing fine lines and wrinkles isn’t just about topical treatments. While they do help, a healthy lifestyle is absolutely paramount. Do you have any tips on reducing wrinkles?
