Things You Need to Build a Home Gym ...

If you are not interested in joining a local gym, why not get together all you need to create a home gym. As a gym rat for many years, creating my home gym was the absolute best thing I did because I utilize this equipment every day.

You do not need to spend a lot of money and you will save a ton by not joining a gym. So what do you need to get started to meet your fitness goals in the comfort of your home? Here are the things you need for your home gym:

1. Treadmill

Although not mandatory, a treadmill is one of the best things for your home gym because this will help you get your cardiovascular workout in regardless of weather. You do not have to spend a great deal.

You can get a quality treadmill at a reasonable rate or you can even check the local gyms that may be selling theirs to make room for new equipment. This is a great way to get a commercial grade treadmill at a fraction of the cost.

A treadmill is one of the things you need for your home gym because you can transform your body with this piece of equipment.

2. Elliptical Trainer

The elliptical is a great piece of equipment which would be a great addition to your home gym. If you are not a runner or walker, the elliptical is the next best thing, in terms of expending calories.

It is also gives a great workout that will not cause tremendous pounding on your joints. Again you do not need to pay a ridiculous amount. You can even purchase one at a garage sale, but this is a piece of equipment, that is well worth it.

Consider it a purchase for the betterment of your health!

3. Yoga Mat

A yoga mat is great because you can use this to perform your pushups and abdominal exercises during your workout.

Yoga mats are inexpensive and will help you because you can also use to workout right in your yard, especially when the weather is too nice to stay indoors.

4. Adjustable Weights

I absolutely love adjustable weights because you can lift anywhere from 5-80 pounds. I usually lift 15 pounds on my first set and having the adjustable weights are helpful because they require little space.

This is a great investment for your home gym that is well worth it.

5. Television

Although you do not need a television to exercise, on days when you are lacking that extra push, having a television show to help push you through really does help.

I have watched many movies as I logged 15 plus miles on the treadmill and the television really did help to continue.

6. Jump Rope

A jump rope is the simplest form of exercise but you actually burn a ton of calories. Jumping rope burns more calories per minute than any other exercise, so get jumping. This is a must have for your home gym.

7. Motivation

If you are exercising in your home, motivation is something that you definitely need. In the comfort of your home it is easier to turn your long run into a walk, or skip a day.

If you motivate yourself to make your fitness workouts part of your life, you will find it to become a ritual. So get motivated so you can get in shape right in your very own home!

So now that I have shared some of the things you need in your home gym, are you ready to begin exercising at home? You can do anything if you believe and work your butt off to achieve great results! Happy fitness to you!
