Gloriously Easy Steps for Steam Treating Your Face ...

Steam treating your face is a great step for opening your pores, cleaning them out and removing toxins from your skin. At the same time, it’s a completely affordable skin treatment you can do right at home.

You’ll love the way it makes your skin look and feel refreshed and gorgeous. All that for zero dollars? What more could a girl ask for? Check out these easy steps for steam treating your face and you’ll see exactly what I mean. Let me know how it works out for you.

1. Boil Water

Place a pot of water on the stove to boil. This will take a shorter amount of time if you start with warm water. You don’t need a ton to make steam treating your face beneficial.

Just a few inches of water is great, but you’ll want to use a large pot so you have more steaming space, which allows you to treat your entire face at one time. While you wait for the water to boil, make sure you have clean hands and a large towel nearby.

2. Add Extras

As the water boils, you can add extra ingredients that enhance the benefits that steaming offers to your face. Try rose essential oil to rejuvenate your skin or tea tree oil to disinfect and treat acne.

Geranium is great for dry skin, while willow and lavender are perfect for toning your facial skin. Sage and mint are your go-to choices for cleansing your skin and leaving it clean and radiant.

Mix and match your favorite oils to reap the rewards while also making your steam treatment delicious smelling.

3. Stand over the Steam

Now you’re ready to do the actual steam treatment. Remove the pan from the heat and place it on a trivet. Stand with your face over the pot of water. Drape a towel over your head to hold the steam in and allow it to penetrate your skin.

Make sure you don’t get your face too close to the water or you might get burned. Try to keep it at least a foot or two away from the hot water.

4. Stay Still

To get the most out of your steam treatment, it’s best to stand over the water for about 10 to 15 minutes, or until the steam dissipates and the water begins to cool.

Play some relaxing music to keep yourself from getting bored and giving up before you’re finished.

5. Rinse Your Face

Once you’re done steaming, rinse your face with lukewarm or cool water. That helps close the pores, which prevents toxins, bacteria and germs from getting in and causing blemishes.

You can do this by splashing the water on your face with your hands, or by gently draping a washcloth over your face for a couple of minutes.

6. Moisturize

The best time to moisturize your skin is when it’s still slightly damp. So, when you’re finished steam treating your face, apply an appropriate facial cream to seal in the moisture and keep your skin supple and youthful.

That means choosing a lotion that’s designed for facial skin as well as your specific skin type, whether that’s oily, dry or normal.

7. Repeat

You can safely steam treat your face a couple of times each week. That will enhance the benefits and keep your skin looking soft and healthy all the time. You’ll quickly find that steaming your face is a relaxing procedure that only takes a few minutes.
